about

Understanding Metadata and your Ethical Responsibilities with your Legal Documents.

Presenter: Adriana Linares, Adriana Linares, legal technology consultant and trainer. She has served as a technology consultant for the Florida Bar Board of Governors and operates The Florida Bar Tech Support Helpline. She currently serves as the Technology and Practice Management Advisor of the San Diego County Bar Association and works with Nota by M&T Bank as a law practice advisor.

Description: Metadata is electronically stored information that generally is not visible from the face of a document that has been printed out, or as first seen on a computer screen. Microsoft Word is particularly vulnerable to exposing such information which often is useless but at other times, can be quite significant and perhaps even privileged. This session highlights potential pitfalls of sharing documents and emails in their electronic form as well as discussing tools and techniques for avoiding issues when sharing documents and emails.
